Caramel Corn–Our Family Favorite

If I had a dollar for every bowl of this my family consumed I could leave them a lot of money.

1/2 c unpopped popcorn – pop first
1/4 c butter
1/4 c sugar
1/2 c brown sugar
1/4 c light corn syrup
1/2 tsp vanilla
dash salt

Melt butter. Mix all ingredients (except popcorn) in a 2 quart bowl, then microwave on high for 90 to 120 seconds - until the syrup is bubbling.   Use your biggest bowl then pour the syrup over popcorn and mix quickly. You can either eat it straight out of the bowl or butter your hands and form the mixture into popcorn balls.  (The bowlful in the photo above is a double recipe.  When doubling, cook the syrup for 3 minutes.)
